It was the men from the Coast Guard who piloted those small Higgins boats, transporting Marines and soldiers from ship to shore during famous amphibious assaults like Guadalcanal and D-Day in Normandy. And out of those two hundred thirty thousand servicemen who served on both oceans in World War Two, only one Coast Guard member earned America’s highest military award, the Medal of Honor.

Army brass understood the importance of mail and decided to send in a special unit to fix this morale busting problem. Enter the 6 Triple 8 Central Postal Directory Battalion, a group of all Black female soldiers with the motto, “No Mail, Low Morale.” By the time the 6888th completed their mission and left France in March 1946, they had exceeded all expectations. And because of their success, it opened up the doors for other Black women in the Army and other military services.
During the last days of World War Two in Europe, a clandestine American military operation was formed in a race for Germany's secret aviation technology. It was called Operation LUSTY. Its mission - retrieval of Germany’s advanced aeronautical technology and world-class scientists. Major General Hal Watson and his team, called Watson’s Whizzers, were responsible for recovering German airplane technology right after World War Two. Watson’s role in Operation LUSTY helped to accelerate America’s jet plane programs and changed the look of the United States Air Force.

After his service in the Marines, he became an outspoken critic of U.S. wars and wrote a scathing book called “War is a Racket.” Oh, by the way, he also exposed an alleged fascist coup to remove President Franklin D Roosevelt from office and overthrow the U.S. government.
